Happy Reality

Happy Reality

Create a reality that you don’t want to run from. We all spend each and every day living in our own heads thinking about our “dream life.” If I could snap my fingers right now and change something, I would be somewhere hot. I would be doing something that made me smile and laugh. I would be so content at where I was that I would not have to dream up where I wanted to be. It would be nice if I could change all these things I didn’t like in my life this instant that would be great. However, that is not the case. Good things take time and hard work; you must strive each and every day for your dreams or your concept of a good reality. I then realized if you found a way to make your everyday life seem like a vacation, you would be set. We are always waiting for our next trip, waiting for our next surprise, the next holiday. How about learning to love what you’re doing right now!

You know that feeling when you wake up the day you are about to catch a plane somewhere. Whether you have been there or not, it is that exciting feeling of going on vacation and having a new experience. How about when you wake up on Christmas morning, whether you are a parent or a kid you still get that feeling of joy inside. So why not wake up tomorrow and get excited about what your day is about to bring. If you feel like you are stuck in a rut of doing the same routine every day, it’s time to change that! Do something that gives you that excited vacation feeling. Live a reality that you are not trying to escape from.

Friday Faves

Friday Faves

It is time once again for our Friday Faves! Today I am feeling quite excited for the weekend and am ready to get my groove on so I thought it would be exciting to talk about how much I love to dance. Now to some people, when they hear the word dance it makes them want to run the opposite direction. I can see how dancing can be a bit of a scare for some people but it really shouldn’t be. Dancing in my mind is a way of letting go. It’s so important to let loose and do what you feel. You don’t have to be a good dancer to dance. All you have to do is move to the music and have a good time. Head to your local bar or night club and get your boogie on!

Here are some of my top music choices for dancing…

1) Don’t Stop The Party- Pitbull
2) Bambooyah- White Panda
3) Midnight City- M83
4) Scream & Shout- Britney Spears and will.i.am
5) Electric Feel- MGMT
6) Sweet Nothing- Calvin Harris
7) Million Voices- Otto Knows
8) Calling- Sebastian Ingrosso & Alesso
9) Greyhound- Swedish House Mafia
10) No Beef- Steve Aoki & Afrojack feat Miss Palmer

Just Be

20130117-205549.jpg

Sometimes in the middle of the chaos it’s good to just sit back and tell yourself that you are okay. If you have two arms and two legs you have a reason to be happy. If you are alive and breathing, you have a reason to smile. What am I talking about you may ask? You know that feeling when everything is going wrong. When the sky hasn’t been blue for days and when you try to be optimistic nothing shows. Things may not be perfect and they never will be but in the middle of the storm it’s okay to just be.

The chaos is in your life to tell you that you are human, to let you know that it’s better to feel something than nothing at all. This past week has been a bit of a downer in my family, my mom and dad’s best friend is dying of liver cancer. It has put a huge stress on everyone; anger has come out, sadness and denial. I was driving with my sister and I wouldn’t say I was extremely happy but I was content. This concept of being okay in the storm hit me as I was driving and I thought it would be smart to share it with you. Most of your worrying in life is brought on by your own mind, if you learn to relax and tell yourself that you are okay in any situation things will turn around before you know it.

Try smiling even when you feel upset. You won’t believe how fast a smile can turn into laughter. Remember, there is a light at the end of the tunnel even if you are stuck in the fog.

I have not seen anyone dying of laughter, but I know millions who are dying because they are not laughing.

Practicing Gratitude

Practicing Gratitude

Considering that today I am not really feeling the motivation for anything I thought it would be smart to write something about gratitude. Whenever you have a bad day you should try your best to think of what you have to be thankful for. This has been a hard thing for me considering when I’m down I tend to think of only the things that are going bad rather than all the good in my life. So today will be, “3 things I am thankful for day.”

1. My Bed – This seems so simple and silly but it truly is something to be thankful for. Not all people in this world have a warm cozy bed to go home to at night.

2. My Family- As much as they drive me crazy, at the end of the day they will always be there. No matter where you end up on this planet you always have your family to catch you when you fall.

3. Food- I take for granted how fortunate I am that I get to eat great foods on the regular. So many people in this world struggle each and every day to get food on the table for their families. Some people don’t even get enough food each day to nourish their bodies. I am very thankful for this common delight that I take for granted.

Do What You Want !

For all of you who don’t know me personally, I will start by saying that I am a huge music fanatic. I enjoy all types of music from electric dance music to indie rock. I unfortunately was not given the gift of a good voice but I make sure to make up for it in other ways, such as… dancing at clubs, singing at the top of my lungs in the car and creating signature dance moves such as “chopping the grass.” So to go along with my blog, I will be posting a song or music video a week that I will talk about. For people who are looking for new and good music to add to their IPods, look no further.

Today I picked a song by two of my favourite DJ’s Avicii and Nicky Romero. This song is called “I could be the one.” It is a perfect song to dance to and as soon as I hear it I automatically start to move my head. The most interesting part of this song for me was the music video that was created for it. When I watched it I felt like I could relate so much to what the woman in the video felt like. The video starts out with her constantly having to wake up early and follow her same routine in the morning before she goes off to work. She then goes to the same job and sits at her desk every day and she feels lost. I feel like a lot of people can relate to that feeling of boredom and not going anywhere new. We get so caught up in trying to do what society has set out for us that we forget to live our own lives.

She then realizes that she cannot keep living her life like a prisoner in her own body, she decides to let go and do what makes her happy. The video obviously exaggerates the theme but I think it has a really good meaning. The lyrics in the song also captivated me right from the start. “I could be the one to make you feel that way; I could be the one to set you free.” For so many people that can mean different things. Whether it’s a person that makes you feel that way, or an idea, think about what makes you happy and follow it with your heart. That happiness will be the key to setting you free.

Friday Faves

Friday Faves

Today is the start of a weekly tradition called “Friday Faves.” This is where I will write about one of my favourite things that make me happy and hopefully make you happy as well. Since Friday is my favourite day of the week I usually start thinking about what my weekend plans will be. This involves thinking of the perfect outfit to wear out, how to do my hair and what place l will be getting my dance on. Throughout the day, I am counting down the minutes until I can leave work and run as fast as I can from the office. I then started thinking what my favourite part of the weekend is and then it hit me. The best part of the weekend is… sleeping in without using an alarm clock. I believe this is when you get to sleep in as long as you can until your body naturally wakes up. It doesn’t matter how early or late you go to bed the night before, there are two whole days where your body can be in complete bliss.
Starting tomorrow I want all alarm clocks hidden and iPhones under your pillow because it’s time to give your body what it needs by sleeping in. We live such busy hectic lives and we don’t realize how hard it is on our bodies every time we don’t get a good sleep. When you sleep your body totally refuels and gets ready for the next day, if you don’t let your brain rest you will not be able to conquer each day. While you sleep your brain is already trying to solve your everyday problems, but if you do not get enough sleep it cannot fully develop itself for the next day. Whether you’re wearing silk pajamas tonight or going in your birthday suit, be prepared for the best sleep of your life. Remember to let your body wake up naturally and you will feel completely rejuvenated for the upcoming day. Oh and if you are hung over….feel free to sleep all day.

Positivity is Key

positivitysmile

“You are what you think you are.” This concept has been going through my mind for the last little while and I believe it to be true. We never realize how powerful our brains are until we see how far we have come. Every thought you have had your entire life has brought you to where you are now. Every thought you have from this day forward will mold you into who you will be. If you want something bad enough and think about it all the time, I believe that subconsciously you become what you want. I’m not saying that if you shut your eyes and think about living on a tropical island that it will happen overnight. But slowly and surely if your thoughts are constantly about that, your whole life becomes what you think about.
Positivity is one of the most powerful tools a person can have. If you think positive thoughts, positive things happen. I would look around and wonder why certain people seem to have everything going for them. They are the ones who have a positive outlook on every situation, they are the ones that say yes when everyone else says no. I know at times it is very difficult to be positive but try and change your mind set to thinking that no matter what happens everything will be okay. Don’t let the little problems in life bring you down. Always be searching for sunshine but you must learn to be able to dance in the rain. In my own life, I know that most things that have happened to me have been from having a positive outlook. When you think about good things, good things happen. Make a goal for yourself each and every day to wake up and put a smile on. Even if things are bad, the ones who are smiling are the ones who pull through. Lastly, work hard to get control of your thoughts. Remember “you are what you think you are.”
